Mountain Biking at Brian Head, Utah: Our Thrilling Adventure

Brian Head Mountain Bike Park

If you’re looking for an unforgettable outdoor adventure, look no further than Brian Head, Utah. Nestled in the stunning mountains of southern Utah, Brian Head is not only a ski resort in the winter but also a mountain biking paradise during the summer. We recently made the trip to experience the epic trails, and it was nothing short of amazing.

Location and Setting

Brian Head is located about 3 hours north of Las Vegas, Nevada, and is part of the Dixie National Forest. At an elevation of over 9,600 feet, it’s one of the highest towns in Utah. That altitude means cooler temperatures, making it an ideal destination to escape the summer heat. The panoramic views of Cedar Breaks National Monument and the surrounding forests provide a breathtaking backdrop for any outdoor adventure.

Mountain Biking at Brian Head

Brian Head Resort is well known for its world-class mountain biking trails. Whether you’re an experienced rider or a beginner, you’ll find a trail that suits your skill level. The trails range from smooth, scenic routes to steep, technical descents that will challenge even the most seasoned bikers.

We took on some of the resort’s most popular trails, including:

The Bunker Creek Trail: This is one of Brian Head’s legendary trails, offering a thrilling descent with over 3,000 feet of vertical drop through lush forests and alpine meadows. The views along the way are unbeatable, with glimpses of Cedar Breaks and sweeping valleys.

Navajo Loop: A moderate loop trail that offers a fun ride for intermediate bikers, with plenty of switchbacks and smooth flowy sections.

Dark Hollow Trail: For those looking for a real challenge, the Dark Hollow Trail will test your skills with its steep, technical terrain. It’s a must-try for adrenaline junkies!

What Makes Brian Head Special?

One of the things we loved about Brian Head is the variety of trails available. Whether you’re into scenic rides or seeking heart-pumping downhill action, there’s something for every type of rider. Plus, the trails are well-maintained, and the resort provides lift-serviced access, so you can focus on enjoying the ride rather than worrying about pedaling back up!

The area around Brian Head is also stunning. The towering pine trees, the vibrant red rock formations, and the expansive alpine vistas make every ride a scenic adventure. The elevation also adds an extra challenge, but the cooler temperatures and fresh mountain air make it worth the effort.
